SUMMARY:

For Skillpoint Alliance, this position is primarily responsible for managing the operating budget, providing financial oversight of the organization, ensuring consistent financial projections, contractual requirements and reporting of all financial activities of the business by performing the following duties.

 

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Performs financial planning, annual and donor specific budget development and subsequent control.

  • Completes financial projections, and partners with Senior Team on budget forecasting.

  • Completes month-end close and consolidation directly via management of Finance staff.

  • Generates monthly financial statements and prepares financial portion of monthly reporting to Board or Board committees.

  • Directs accounting, payroll, purchasing, billing/reimbursement process, and the financial aspects of grants management.

  • Develops and implements financial and accounting policies and procedures and internal compliance.

  • Coordinates annual audit, submission of IRS form 990, and liaise with external auditors.

  • Manages financial reporting and tracking for government grants, including city, county, and state

  • Fiduciary/Administrator of organizational 401k plan

  • Responsible for all insurance needs for the organization, both commercial and health

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manages employees in the Finance Department.

Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the department.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Accounting from four-year college or university;

  • One to two years related experience and/or training;

    • or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Master's degree (M.A.) preferred.

  • Experience in Non-Profit Finances.

  • Experience in Government Contract management.

 

DIRECT TASK SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of fund accounting, payroll and personnel law, and generally accepted accounting principles as promulgated by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

  • Analytical, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.

  • Ability to plan and execute work independently, and use good judgment.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to manage time and resources to complete projects and assignments within agreed upon timeframes.

  • Must have knowledge of computers, Microsoft Office applications and accounting systems.  Knowledge of MIP software package a plus.

 

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of:  

    • Accounting Software (QuickBooks);

    • Internet Software;

    • Payroll Systems;

    • Spreadsheet Software (Excel);

    • Word Processing Software (Word);

    • Electronic Mail Software (Outlook); and

    • Paperless/Electronic Documentation Storage systems.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification preferred.

 

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have 5-7 years experience in supervisory role and working in non-profit sector or related field.

  • Must have experience in Non-Profit Finances.

  • Preferred experience in Government Contract management.

  • Able to work a flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays.

  • May require some travel (domestic & international) on an as needed basis.
